  • Miller, who won 21 caps for Republic of Ireland between 2004 and 2009, started his career at Celtic before moving to Old Trafford.
  • Former Celtic and Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov, who recovered from acute leukaemia, said: “I’m saddened to hear the news about my old team-mate Liam Miller.
  • Celtic wrote on their official Twitter account: “The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Celtic Football Club are with Liam Miller and his family at this time.”
  • And Manchester United tweeted: “The thoughts of everyone at Manchester United go out to Liam Miller and his loved ones at this difficult time.”

Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus reveals she has breast cancer

Obama: Dropping Malia off at college was ‘like open-heart surgery’

  • Former President Barack Obama revealed Monday night how emotional it was to say goodbye to his eldest daughter, Malia, when she went away to college this fall.
  • I dropped off Malia at college, and I was saying to Joe and Jill (Biden) that it was a little bit like open-heart surgery,” Obama said in remarks at an event for the Beau Biden Foundation, according to video posted by WDEL radio.
  • Obama said the moment was “a reminder that, at the end of our lives, whatever else we’ve accomplished, the things that we’ll remember are the joys that our children — and hopefully way later, our grandchildren — bring us.”
  • “It is proper and right that somebody as thoughtful and genuine and strong as Beau made it one of his missions that every child has protection,” Obama said.
  • Former Vice President Joe Biden thanked Obama for his support of the foundation, which was created in 2015 to honor his late son’s legacy in protecting children from abuse.

  • The worst moment had to be my grandpa’s funeral.
  • Granny was so far away by then, she hadn’t realised he’d gone.
  • Until the day of the funeral.
  • Originally from Belarus, he had a traditional Russian funeral, which meant an open coffin.
  • Something about seeing him there sparked something in poor Granny, and she crumbled into hysterics.

If you had to guess what the leading cause of death is in England and Wales, what would you go for? Probably not dementia, right?

    A boy from Llanelli has grown his hair to about 25cm (10in) to make wigs for children who have lost theirs due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.Josh Scott-Hill, 11, has been growing his hair for 18 months after seeing a friend lose hers during chemotherapy.He said he had been “teased and mistaken for a girl”.

  • Josh will give his hair to Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for children, and has also raised more than ÂŁ1,000 for Maggie’s Cancer in Swansea.
  • “His mother Sam Scott said she was very proud of her son, who will have his hair cut on 15 July.
